Alburnett will be defending their home turf for the first time on Friday when they go up against Highland at 7:00 PM. Keep an eye on the score for this one : both teams put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up.
Alburnett had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They were fully in charge last Friday, breezing past Vinton-Shellsburg 49-7. The margin was wide but not a surprise since Alburnett are ranked far ahead of Vinton-Shellsburg in the MaxPreps rankings.
Meanwhile, Highland took care of business in their home opener. Everything went their way against Columbus last week as they made off with a 48-16 win. Highland was expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the rankings had forecast.
Their wins bumped Highland to 1-0 and Alburnett to 1-0. With both Alburnett and Highland swaggering in after impressive performances, it will be interesting to see which team steps up to teach the other some humility.
