Baseball Game Preview: Douglas Tigers vs. Carson Senators

For the first time this season, Douglas will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will challenge the Carson Senators at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Douglas easily dispatched Fernley on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Douglas fell just short of McQueen by a score of 14-12 on Saturday. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Lancers since on Saturday.

Jackson Ovard put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Tyler Sentell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Jeffrey Peters was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Carson came up short against McQueen on Thursday, falling 12-1. The loss continues a trend for the Senators in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost four in a row.

Douglas' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Carson, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Douglas came out on top in a nail-biter against Carson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will Douglas repeat their success, or does Carson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
