Basketball Recap: San Diego Academy Piles Up the Points Against Preuss UCSD

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Diego Academy). They breezed past the Preuss UCSD Tritons to the tune of 50-22 on Thursday. For the Cavaliers, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Tritons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2017.

San Diego Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Harmony Santos led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine steals. Santos is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed seven or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Promesse Murhabale, who shot 63% from the field en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

San Diego Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

San Diego Academy picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Preuss UCSD, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

San Diego Academy and Preuss UCSD will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Cavaliers see the court they'll take on High Tech Mesa at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2026. As for Preuss UCSD, their break will end when they face Del Lago Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 5, 2026.
