The Grand County Red Devils struggled with assists on Tuesday (the North Summit Braves had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Grand County took a serious blow against the Braves, falling 65-32. While losing is never fun, Grand County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Braves are ranked 15th).
Despite the loss, Grand County still got an impressive performance from Trinity Bryant, who scored 13 points along with four steals. Bryant has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
North Summit got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hartlynn Richins out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Richins has been hot recently, having posted six or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayzlyn Murdock, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Grand County and nudges their season record down to 8-5. As for North Summit, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grand County is on the road again on Friday and plays the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for North Summit, they will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Duchesne is on a five-game streak of home wins, the Braves a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
