Baseball Recap: Calhoun Victorious

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Calhoun nor Ingleside made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Sandcrabs skirted past the Mustangs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sandcrabs have posted against the Mustangs since April 16, 2021.

Jaziah Perez looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Tucker Amerson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Demetrio Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ingleside only posted a batting average of .214.

Calhoun now has a winning record of 12-11-3. As for Ingleside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Calhoun and Ingleside will both be playing Jones the next time they take the field. The Sandcrabs will head out to face the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mustangs will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
