Two dominant in Melicia Nelson and Eriana Begay are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Window Rock Fighting Scouts will head out on the road to square off against the Tuba City Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Window Rock is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Warriors in Arizona (the Fighting Scouts are ranked seventh, while the Warriors are ranked 57th).
Last Tuesday, Window Rock strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 61-47.
Meanwhile, Tuba City humbled the Wildcats with a 50-23 victory. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Tuba City had established a 23 point advantage.
Begay was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Natasha Acothley, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Window Rock is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Tuba City, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
Window Rock was able to grind out a solid win over the Warriors in their previous matchup back in January, winning 46-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Window Rock since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
