Baseball Recap: North Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Ten must be North's lucky number: they beat St. Monica Academy with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Saxons beat the Crusaders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-2. Winning may never get old, but the Saxons sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Nikko Archuleta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Lucas Blackwood was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was David Iniguez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

North pushed their record up to 8-9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, North will challenge Hawthorne at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.91 runs per game on average), something the Saxons will no doubt try to take advantage of. St. Monica Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
