This season hasn't been kind to the Hueneme Vikings, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 49-48 to Fillmore. Hueneme has struggled against Fillmore recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Benito Gutierrez, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Juanillo, who scored 13 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
Hueneme's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Fillmore, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hueneme will take on Santa Clara at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Santa Clara focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for Fillmore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Channel Islands at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Channel Islands' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
