The Eastmark Firebirds and the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Eastmark Firebirds had to settle for second. Eastmark took a hard 28-13 fall against Yuma Catholic. Eastmark's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Mason Jensen threw for 146 yards on 11 of 18 attempts. Collin Minnaar was his top target, picking up 61 receiving yards. On the ground, Coleman Samples rushed for 73 yards.
It was another big night for Tayt Ford, who rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Ford hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games.
Eastmark's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Yuma Catholic, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Eastmark does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Yuma Catholic has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Arcadia is ranked 29th, while Yuma Catholic is ranked 22nd).
