Galax hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Maroon Tide will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Galax will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Narrows on Thursday. The Maroon Tide blew past the Green Waves 18-4. The Maroon Tide haven't had any issues with the Green Waves recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Molly Plant made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Plant was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Galax got a massive performance out of Beth Sizemore, who went 3-for-5 with five runs, one double, and one RBI. KK Barnes was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Galax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Narrows only managed seven.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Auburn). They put the hurt on Radford with a sharp 19-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Galax, Auburn also got a great game from a two-way player: Faith Wilson. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wilson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other pitching news, Skyler Hodges looked comfortable as she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Galax's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Auburn, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Galax has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Auburn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Galax suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Auburn in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Maroon Tide avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
