Given Palm Beach Lakes' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Royal Palm Beach is ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Coney, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Coney is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Michael Vilsaint was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Palm Beach Lakes has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Royal Palm Beach, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.
