Johnson is 5-0 against Savannah Country Day since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Johnson Atomsmashers will be staying on the road to face off against the Savannah Country Day Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Johnson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Johnson pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Groves. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Monday (63), Johnson still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joshua Quarterman, who scored 31 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cormari Jones, who scored 15 points along with eight steals.
Savannah Country Day suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 75-51 loss at the hands of Liberty County. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Savannah Country Day in their matchups with Liberty County: they've now lost three in a row.
Johnson's record now sits at 10-7. Savannah Country Day's record is now 5-11.
Johnson took their victory against Savannah Country Day in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 63-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Johnson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
