Basketball Recap: Jillian Salts Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

With a playoff win on the line, Carroll rose to the challenge on Saturday. They snuck past the Rossville Hornets with a 43-38 win. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Hornets back in December of 2024, they had to take a 36-33 defeat.

Carroll got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jillian Salts out in front who went 6 for 14 to rack up 16 points. Another player making a difference was Eliza Rinehart, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Despite the loss, Rossville had strong showings from Ava Burkle, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds, and Victoria Vanderwall, who posted eight points and four steals. What's more, Burkle also posted a 63% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024.

Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Rossville, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.

Looking ahead, Carroll will challenge North Miami at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive. Rossville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
