Volleyball Recap: Porter-Gaud's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

It was a good run, but Porter-Gaud unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Wando Warriors. If the Cyclones were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Porter-Gaud ultimately came up short, they really made Wando work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-18.

Allie Abernathy paced Porter-Gaud's offense, picking up eight kills. Abernathy got some help from Harriett Matenaer and her eight assists.

Wando was led to victory by Violet Poole and Lily Oscarsson. Poole had 14 digs and four assists, while Oscarsson had five digs and one assist. With that strong performance, Poole is now averaging an impressive 10.3 digs per game. Taylor Norris also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Porter-Gaud's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Wando, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-4.

Porter-Gaud wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Palmetto Christian Academy on the 30th. As for Wando, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Hedgesville on the 30th.
