Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rossville walked away with it. They were the clear victors by  a  13-1 margin over the Benton Central Bison on Tuesday. Considering the Hornets have won 16 games by more than five  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Avery Layton was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowing only two  hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  run.
 In other batting news,  Addi Gorbett was  incredible,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with six  RBI, three  runs,  and two  doubles. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in April.  Brielle Layton was another key player,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Rossville  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters  in seven consecutive  matchups.
Rossville's record is now 20-5. As for Benton Central, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost 13 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-21 record  this season.
 Rossville will face off against Western Boone at 7:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Stars will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  win, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. Benton Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
