If the Rogers City Hurons were feeling good off their 72-15 takedown of the Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Rogers City took a serious blow against Hillman on Tuesday, falling 83-47. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rogers City in their matchups with Hillman: they've now lost six in a row.
Trenton Taratuta was his usual excellent self, shooting 11-for-16 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 52 points and 11 rebounds for Hillman. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taratuta has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Rouleau, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Rogers City's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Hillman, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Rogers City won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St.Ignace at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. St.Ignace has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 697 points over their last 11 matches. As for Hillman, they will head out on the road to square off against Hale at 7:20 p.m. on Friday. Hale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 656th, while Hillman is ranked 259th).
