Avon's loss came despite strong showings from Maria Geary and Sophia Fries. Geary dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Fries scored six points along with 12 rebounds. Geary scored a full 50% of Avon's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Avon bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Central Square, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Avon will finish 2023 at home by hosting Geneseo at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Square, they will head out on the road to face off against Cicero-North Syracuse at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th.
