The Taylorsville Warriors had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 60-53 win over Cyprus. For Taylorsville, this counts as revenge for the 83-63 defeat Cyprus walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Taylorsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bronson Dallimore, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. The game was Dallimore's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kobe Allen was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five assists and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Cyprus saw an underclassman step up: Koli Fosita scored 33 points along with seven rebounds. Fosita scored a full 62.3% of Cyprus' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stone Tia, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Cyprus were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Taylorsville's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Cyprus, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Taylorsville will head out on the road to face off against Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kearns is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Cyprus will take on Juan Diego Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Juan Diego Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
