The Skyview Hawks will face off against the Bonneville Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skyview will be looking to extend their current 16-game winning streak.
While Skyview's win against Blackfoot wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks won by a run and slipped past the Broncos 6-5.
Marcus Martinez tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Skyview let Keegan Sullivan and Tyler Russell run wild. Sullivan got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Russell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Bonneville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Burley 11-1 on Saturday. Considering the Bees have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Taye Lords was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Tanner Miller was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Bonneville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in six consecutive games.
Skyview's record now sits at 20-3. As for Bonneville, their record is now 22-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Skyview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Bonneville struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Skyview couldn't quite finish off Bonneville in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
