On Tuesday, the Edmond North Huskies faced the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Edmond North snuck past Edmond Memorial with a 69-64 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janiyah Williams, who scored 32 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Hjelmstad, who scored 19 points.
Edmond North pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.67 points. As for Edmond Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edmond North will take on Deer Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Edmond North is ranked second). As for Edmond Memorial, they will head out on the road to challenge Putnam City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
