Basketball Game Preview: Woodland Wolfpack vs. Hampton Hornets

Woodland has gone 10-0 against Hampton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Woodland Wolfpack will challenge the Hampton Hornets at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Hampton will be up against a hot Woodland squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Woodland blew past Eagle's Landing Christian Academy 57-32 on Friday. Given the Wolfpack's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Chargers are ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Jada Little, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave her a new career-high. Kennedy Riley was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Hampton over Forest Park in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hampton blew Forest Park out of the water with a 54-10 final score. With the Hornets ahead 27-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Hampton found their leader in sophomore Surayyah Aleem, who posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayana Roberts, who put up ten points.

Hampton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Woodland, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.

Everything came up roses for Woodland against Hampton when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
