Florence is a perfect 6-0 against Show Low since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Florence Gophers are taking a road trip to square off against the Show Low Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Florence will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Florence and ALA - Ironwood, and Florence kept the tradition alive. Florence blew past ALA - Ironwood 9-2 on Monday. Nine seems to be a good number for the Gophers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Adrian Rodriguez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Gammons, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Monday. Show Low came out on top against Chino Valley by a score of 9-6. Show Low hasn't had any issues with Chino Valley recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Korbyn Greenwood looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Show Low is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kash Perkins, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Hall, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Show Low was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory got Show Low back to even at 4-4. As for Florence, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Florence has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Show Low struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Florence beat Show Low 9-6 in their previous matchup last Saturday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florence since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
