The Southington Blue Knights will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Berlin Redcoats at 6:45 p.m. Southington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Berlin likes a good challenge.
Southington can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game last Thursday. Everything went their way against Hall as Southington made off with a 55-29 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Southington has posted yet this season.
Southington can attribute much of their success to Lily Cooper, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds, and Bethany Borges, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Borges scored 15 or more points. Katie Doherty was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Berlin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 41-37 to Windsor. Berlin has not had much luck with Windsor recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Berlin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Ellison, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks, and Brooke Walker who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Walker hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Southington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Berlin, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Southington hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.1 points per game. It's a different story for Berlin, though, as they've been averaging only 47.8 points per game. The only thing between Southington and another offensive beatdown is Berlin. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Southington ended up a good deal behind Berlin when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 55-40. Will Southington have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
