In what's become a running theme this season, the Monroe Golden Tornadoes gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They really took it to Early County for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-24 victory on the road. The victory was nothing new for Monroe as they're now sitting on five straight.
Monroe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kie'Aundria Acree, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Acree is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciarra Lunsford, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 24 rebounds.
Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Early County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe will take on Westover at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Westover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Saturday. As for Early County, they will head out on the road to face off against Randolph-Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
