Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Duarte

Duarte won the last time they faced Baldwin Park and things went their way on Thursday too. The Falcons put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 20-4 win. Considering the Falcons have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Allison Michels was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Michels was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Alyssa Garcia looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Crystal Moran was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emily Ramirez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Duarte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Duarte pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Baldwin Park, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duarte will challenge Nogales at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Nobles will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Baldwin Park, they will square off against Garey at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.69 runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
