The Lake View Wild Gators were the 68-60 winner over the Dillon Wildcats when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. Lake View took a 43-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dillon. Lake View's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Lake View had strong showings from Jaleya Ford, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Gwendasia Page, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Ford scored a full 56.8% of Lake View's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ta'Kiyah Waters, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
Lake View struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Dillon racked up ten assists.
Dillon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Treasure Davis out in front who scored 15 points along with four steals. The game was Davis' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khwnylahi Mckinnon, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Lake View's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-4. As for Dillon, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3.
Lake View will take on Dillon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Dillon is ranked 74th, while Lake View is ranked 61st). As for Dillon, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake View at 6:00 p.m.
