The Silver Lake Mustangs waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Franklin 41-13 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Silver Lake has posted since December 8, 2023.
Leading Silver Lake to victory were Emma Schmidt and Katy Soucek. Schmidt scored 11 points along with four steals, while Soucek scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Soucek scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Paige Faimon, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Silver Lake pushed their record up to 10-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Franklin, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silver Lake will square off against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Franklin, they will head out on the road to challenge Kenesaw at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kenesaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Saturday.
