The Decatur Golden Gators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell 59-48 to Kentridge. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Decatur of the 61-47 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Decatur still got an impressive performance from Kaira Creary, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Jeralynn Sevaaetasi was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Kentridge can attribute much of their success to Sophie Solomon, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Solomon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kalia Washington, who scored 12 points.
Decatur's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Kentridge, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Decatur will square off against Kentwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kentwood will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Kentridge, they will head out on the road to challenge Kennedy Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
