The Newport Wildcats came tearing into Wednesday's match with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 80-41 win over Bellevue. With Newport ahead 43-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Newport got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jabari Covington out in front who scored 23 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Covington has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dashawn Anderson, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Newport has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Bellevue, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.
