The West Laurens Raiders lost against the Baldwin Braves back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. West Laurens was beaten by Baldwin 88-54. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Laurens in their matchups with Baldwin: they've now lost eight in a row.
West Laurens' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Nash, who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for him. Nasire Jones was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Baldwin was led to victory by Karez Demory and Isaiah Dennis. Demory scored 12 points along with four steals, while Dennis scored 17 points. The contest was Dennis' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deven Nelson, who scored 12 points.
West Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Baldwin, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Laurens will face off against Howard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Baldwin is on the road again on Friday and play against Perry at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Perry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Baldwin is ranked 36th).
