The Fairfield Falcons will challenge the Jimtown Jimmies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Fairfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Angola 19-9 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Fairfield let Lynelle Penrose and Preslee Caouette run wild. Penrose went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Caouette went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Penrose has posted since back in May of 2024. Lilly Yoder was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Fairfield lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Jimtown got themselves on the board against LaVille on Thursday, but LaVille never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 27-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Jimmies in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won six in a row.
Layla Winrott made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Winrott was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Lilly Gaugler was a standout: she got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Williams, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
The victory made it two in a row for Fairfield and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Jimtown, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-4.
Fairfield might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Jimtown in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
