The College Station Cougars will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Montgomery Bears at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, College Station beat Magnolia 41-37. Given College Station's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Magnolia is ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Montgomery posted their closest victory since November 17, 2023 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 win over Lake Creek. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
College Station has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Montgomery, their win bumped their record up to 10-17.
College Station was able to grind out a solid victory over Montgomery when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 47-36. Will College Station repeat their success, or does Montgomery have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
