The Kirbyville Wildcats were the 37-34 winner over the Buna Cougars when they last played one another on January 2nd, but their luck changed this time around. Kirbyville fell 32-25 to Buna on Friday. Kirbyville's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Buna's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Sherman, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Epps, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Kirbyville has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Buna, their win bumped their record up to 21-10.
Kirbyville will head out on the road to square off against Anahuac at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Anahuac is on a four-game streak of home losses, Kirbyville a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Buna will take on Hardin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
