Jacksboro moved up to 588 from 657 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-2 Region II District 5. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Alvord 43-16.
Jacksboro extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Bulldogs, 43-16. The win marks sixth in a row for the Brian Hodnett's team.
On the heels of Caleb Swofford and John Jennings, Nocona has had great success on offense. Swofford leads the league in passing with 1,222 yards, while Jennings has rushed for 932 yards this season. Alvord's Lane Peace leads the league in receiving yards with 504 on 28 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Nocona takes on second place Jacksboro.
The Indians' offense has scored 205 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Tigers have allowed only 150 on the year.
Nocona's Jennings needs only 68 yards against Jacksboro next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Jennings has rushed for 932 yards on 141 carries so far this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Tigers take on Brad Keck's team. Jacksboro has allowed 150 points this season, while the Indians have given up 165.
The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,945 from 6,801. The improvement was largely due to a 43-16 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
