Basketball Recap: Union County Comes Up Short

Union County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 38-25 to the First Christian Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fightin' Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-16 back in November.

Despite the loss, Union County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooke Hunt posted six points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. Hunt is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Heaven Scott, who had four points and four steals.

Reagan Davis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for First Christian, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of First Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Graham, who posted seven points in addition to 14 rebounds and four steals.

Union County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for First Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Union County will head out to challenge Oak Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Hall's defense has only allowed 24.1 points per game this season, so Union County's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for First Christian, they will welcome Open Bible Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
