While Winn didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Southside Cardinals on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Mavericks have won by exactly five runs.

Winn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. Southside dropped their record down to 10-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Winn is set to face off against their familiar foe South San Antonio at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Winn 3.6, South San Antonio 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Southside will square off against rival Southwest Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
