Union is 1-9 against Uintah since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Union Cougars will face off against the Uintah Utes at 3:30 p.m. Union will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
While Union didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let Bear Lake get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Haylee Moynier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kadyn Kettle was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ailey Burgess also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear Lake only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Uintah, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Salem Hills 9-8 on Saturday.
Sophia Pope was a standout: she scored a run while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Addison Buist, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Uintah pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing seven strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.75 in the others. As for Union, their record is now 8-3.
Uintah's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Union has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Uintah, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Union's sizable advantage in that area, Uintah will need to find a way to close that gap.
Union skirted past Uintah 10-9 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
