Basketball Recap: Sam Shapiro's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakeside over Chamblee

Lakeside lost against Chamblee back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lakeside Vikings came up short against the Chamblee Bulldogs, falling 78-57. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 155th).

Lakeside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Shapiro, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Shapiro has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Solomon Raggs, who had nine points.

Chamblee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eston Mcdow led the charge by going 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points. Another player making a difference was Rasean Robertson, who scored eight points and six rebounds.

Lakeside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Chamblee, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Lakeside will face off against Atlanta Jewish Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeside is facing Atlanta Jewish Academy at the right time seeing as Atlanta Jewish Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Chamblee has already played their next game, a 64-55 defeat against Decatur on the 29th.
