The Triad Cardinals came into Wednesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-36 victory over Greeneview on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but Triad was the better team in the second half.
Mia LeMay was her usual excellent self, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbey Overfield, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Triad's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Greeneview, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Triad will square off against the Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. West Liberty-Salem presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cardinals in Ohio (the Tigers are ranked 141st, while the Cardinals are ranked 614th). Greeneview's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Irish at 12:45 p.m. on February 3rd.
