The La Plata Warriors had to endure an 18-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 39-12 win over McDonough at home. La Plata's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last eight games.
La Plata was led to victory by Jayden Wills and Mekhi Prather. Wills threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes, while Prather picked up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Prather's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
La Plata's victory bumped their record up to 1-8. As for McDonough, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Plata will face off against Gwynn Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gwynn Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully La Plata likes a good challenge. As for McDonough, they will head out on the road to face off against Calvert at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvert will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
