The Stroudsburg Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stroudsburg is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Stroudsburg, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to Whitehall. While losing is never fun, Stroudsburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while Whitehall is ranked 103rd).
Meanwhile, even though Bangor scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, East Stroudsburg North still came out on top. East Stroudsburg North secured a 61-56 W over Bangor. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but East Stroudsburg North was the better team in the second half.
Bryceson Dobie was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bernard Bowen III, who scored eight points.
Stroudsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for East Stroudsburg North, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Stroudsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over East Stroudsburg North when the teams last played back in January, winning 52-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stroudsburg since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
