There's no place like home for Freeman, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They never let the Newport Grizzlies get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Wednesday. The Scotties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Kaylee Ripke was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 17 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Isabel Silva was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Lakyn Crist also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Freeman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport only posted a batting average of .053.
Freeman pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Newport, with the loss, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-6.
As of now, neither Freeman nor the Grizzlies have any future games scheduled.
