Basketball Recap: Hampton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cloudland last Thursday, Hampton came back down to earth. The Hampton Bulldogs took a hard 64-50 fall against the Unicoi County Blue Devils on Saturday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 75-53.

Despite the loss, Hampton still got an impressive performance from Bryce Fagan, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. Fagan's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Davenport, who posted nine points.

Kaden Cutlip was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points for Unicoi County. Jackson Simmons was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 15 points.

Hampton dropped their record down to 10-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Unicoi County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Hampton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-65 defeat against University School on the 6th. As for Unicoi County, they will head out to take on David Crockett at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
