Even though the FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, the Lighthouse Private Christian Academy Stingrays still came out on top. Lighthouse Private Christian Academy slipped by FAMU DRS 64-63. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lighthouse Private Christian Academy.
Lighthouse Private Christian Academy was led to victory by Michael Ribeiro and Vitor Oliveira. Ribeiro scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Oliveira dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Oliveira set a new season high mark in blocks with four. Arthur Rosado was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Despite the loss, FAMU DRS saw an underclassman step up: Eric Turral scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Turral scored a full 27% of FAMU DRS's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alphonza Gammons, who scored 12 points.
Lighthouse Private Christian Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8. As for FAMU DRS, they bumped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lighthouse Private Christian Academy will challenge Destin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for FAMU DRS, they will head out on the road to face off against Wakulla at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
