The Simsbury Trojans will challenge the Glastonbury Guardians at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Simsbury will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.
Simsbury is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Southington, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Simsbury was ranked third). The Trojans put the hurt on the Blue Knights with a sharp 3-0 victory on Wednesday.
While Simsbury might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Southington scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-19, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Glastonbury hadn't done well against RHAM recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Guardians were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Raptors.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Glastonbury was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-14, 25-14.
Glastonbury's win came from a few key players Simsbury will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Leah Mosca, who had 15 digs and three assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Kantor, who had eight digs and two aces.
Glastonbury was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 12 consecutive matches.
Simsbury's record now sits at 19-1. As for Glastonbury, their record is now 25-2-2.
Simsbury came up short against Glastonbury when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mosca, who had 13 digs and four aces. Now that the Trojans know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
