The Central Cobras will head out on the road to challenge the Oak Ridge Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Central can now relate to. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their defeat, Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. CHAU DAVIS, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that DAVIS scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of HARMON RANDOLPH, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Oak Ridge pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They had to suffer through a rough 92-63 loss at the hands of Dr. Phillips. While losing is never fun, Oak Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Dr. Phillips is ranked fifth).
Central's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Oak Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
Central ended up a good deal behind Oak Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2018, losing 66-51. Thankfully for Central, Imani Lubin (who scored 26 points along with seven assists and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
