The Heritage Hawks''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Brookstone, falling 48-7. Heritage has struggled against Brookstone recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Brookstone got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lane Cannon out in front who rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Cannon is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Brookstone also got help from Maxwell Jones who showed off his sure hands for 122 receiving yards.
Heritage's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-0 John Milledge Academy and 12-1 St. Anne-Pacelli (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.8% over those games). As for Brookstone, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brookstone will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Anne-Pacelli at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Cor'vee James and Cannon.
