The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 victory over Claymont. The win made it back-to-back wins for Tuscarawas Valley.
Tuscarawas Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was John Leffler out in front who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Leffler has scored at least a third of Tuscarawas Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Kuykendall, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Tuscarawas Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Claymont, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.
Tuscarawas Valley will be playing at home against Garaway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Claymont, they will head out on the road to square off against Indian Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Indian Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Claymont in Ohio (Indian Valley is ranked 129th, while Claymont is ranked 486th).
