The Shelter Island Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Babylon, falling 51-13. Shelter Island was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-4.
Babylon was led to victory by Hailey Lassen and Giavanna Randazzo. Lassen scored eight points, while Randazzo scored ten points. Lassen continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Love, who scored six points.
Shelter Island's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Babylon, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Shelter Island will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Babylon at 6:15 p.m. on February 7th. As for Babylon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pierson/Bridgehampton at 6:15 p.m.
