Vanguard Classical East was down 43-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Leading Ascent Classical Academy to victory were Iain Embry and Liam Flanigan. Embry scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, while Flanigan dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vann Rogers, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Vanguard Classical East's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Ascent Classical Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vanguard Classical East will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nederland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Ascent Classical Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mile High Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th.
